On the site of an ancient castle, discover an exceptional view of Vic-sur-Cère and the valley! This castle was the birthplace of Pierre de Vic, also known as the Moine de Montaudon, a troubadour of humorous poetry.
In the 11th century, at a place called "Castel Viel", two noble families, "de Cère" and "de Vic", shared the seigneury and paid homage to the Viscounts of Carlat. This was the birthplace of Pierre de Vic, Monk of Montaudon, troubadour at the court of Alfons d'Aragon, Viscount of Carlat, where he led a life of ripaille. His poetry was that of a troubadour bon vivant, full of humor. He died in 1210 in a priory in Spain.
